Typical First Visit

What should I expect during my first visit?

Our practice considers your first visit your most important one. Therefore, we schedule extra time with Dr. Webb to ensure we gain a thorough understanding of your condition and so we may answer any questions you may have.

The goal of the first visit is to diagnosis the problem and what we can do to treat it. To achieve this goal, we will ask you questions about how and when your problem developed, what makes your condition better or worse. Also, we will ask questions about your general health including medications and any past surgeries. By gathering this information, it will help lay the ground work for effective management of your health problem.

After gathering this information, we move on to a physical examination. We generally check your posture, feeling the painful area and check mobility of your joints.

Neurological examination and gait assessment may also be included. Testing such as x-ray, CT or MRI scan is not routinely performed, but may be necessary depending on the condition.

Once your history and examination are complete, a treatment plan will be discussed based on Dr. Webb's recommendations. Treatment will usually begin immediately, especially in acute cases. If you have a complicated case or further testing or consultations are requested, treatment may be deferred until this is completed so that we may provide you with the highest quality care.

Highlands Chiropractic allows 1 hour for an initial appointment, however, this varies depending on the complexity of the problem.
